Lavender essential oil is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils used in aromatherapy world. Distilled from the plant Lavandula angustifolia, the oil promotes relaxation and is believed to treat anxiety, fungal infections, allergies, depression, insomnia, eczema, nausea, and menstrual cramps. You can put a few drops of lavender essential oil directly on your skin with or without a carrier oil (ie: liquid grape seed oil). This essential oil can be applied to the crown of your head, behind the ears, to your neck, and to your temples. If the aroma of an oil is too strong, or your skin is sensitive, you can dilute it with a carrier oil. Pouring a few drops of Lavender Oil onto your pillow is how the majority of people use Lavender Oil to help them to sleep however, to avoid staining your sheets and bedding you can put the drops on a hanky or facecloth placed over the pillow.
